A Mason Update...

*Phil is still waiting to hear when he leaves for bootcamp.
*We are getting really excited about our trip to Belize in April!
*Sophie doesn't have to go to the doctor for weight checks anymore cause she's been gaining consistently, yay!
*Phil and I are reading Angels and Demons together and that is keeping us entertained.
*We are rooting for Megan on American Idol. We like her jazzy voice.
*My Kiwanis Boys rocked the All-City Honor Groups concert and now we're preparing for our Spring Tour on May 1st.
*I've been released from the Relief Society Presidency after 3 years.
*We got a membership to the YMCA and thankfully, Sophie loves the childcare place!
*I'm learning how to sew! Yep, Tara, sewing.
*Sophie is 18 months old and is finally down to one nap. I'm no longer on house arrest!

It's Official!

Phil swore in last Thursday. He couldn't be more excited but now is the waiting game. We thought we'd get more details, but it looks like he "might" leave as early as May or June but it could be later in the year, like October. So...I guess we'll keep livin' life as usual until we find out.

The Air Guard & 17 Months

I have been blogging about Sophie each month since she was born and it seems I've forgotten about month 16. Oh, well. I'll just lump it in with 17. Anyone who has been around Sophie lately knows what an energetic little drama queen she has become. She keeps us exhausted but at the same time gives us more joy than we've ever known. She loves to be outside and point at everything, especially birds or dogs. She loves giving the dogs treats and throws a big fit when we won't let her give them more than one. She has in the past been WAY too busy to sit down and let us read her a book, but she is finally getting into them and will bring them to us and sit in our laps for at least the first few pages. She loves to say hi and bye and blow or give kisses to everyone. She has started saying the word "more" now as she does the sign and instead of saying no when she means yes, she says "tay". We're not sure if she's trying to say "yeah" or "kay". She has finally made the 20 pound mark! 8 oz of Pediasure each day seems to have helped with that. At least she's gaining weight, even if she's not on the chart.

Many of you know that Phil has decided to join the Air Guard. He wants to be a pilot. He'll hopefully find out this week when he'll leave for boot camp, but it probably won't be until the end of the summer. We both feel it is the direction our family needs to go right now. We need the health insurance, retirement, and other support right now. Phil's job is too sketchy right now and we need some backbone. So...anyone want to move in with us while he's gone? :) I'll update as soon as we hear from the recruiter.

A New Adventure: Austin, TX

My dad just recently moved to Austin and we were lucky enough to visit for the holidays! Only a few of the things we got to experience: drove to Corpus Christie so Sophie could play on the beach, stopped in San Antonio to see the Alamo and the riverwalk, heard some amazing live music, shopped at a huge outlet mall, and ate really yummy Texas BBQ.

Christmas...a little late.

We had Christmas at my mom's on Christmas Eve, then Christmas with the Masons on Christmas morning and then flew to Austin later that day to visit my dad with Ben & Trish too. It was pretty crazy but somehow we fit it all in. Sophie was spoiled rotten by her grandparents and loved all her gifts. She especially loves the pink chair Lala gave her and her baby doll from Grandma. I'll post all the Austin pics in a separate post. Happy New Year!
