Sophie probably thinks Christmas lasts 3 days because that's what happened this year. Christmas with Grandpa Goodsell & TJ on Christmas Eve, with the Masons on Christmas Day and the day after with Grandma & Grandpa Davis. Sophie's favorite thing to do was pass out presents. I think she liked that even more than actually opening them. Hope you all enjoyed your Christmases. Looking forward to a new year full of exciting things including a trip to Seattle to visit Papa when he gets radiation, Phil leaving for tech school Mar. 1-May 11th, and my Kiwanis boys singing for the legislature! Happy New Year everyone!

Kiwanis Holiday Tour
I took my boys on tour Dec. 11th and then we had our very own holiday concert at Boise High that night. It turned out totally awesome and the boys were fabulous. It was nice to have our own concert because many of the boys were able to sing solos and even play their instruments for us. We even had opera singer Jason Detwiler as our guest soloist. I'm very proud of them and looking forward to the spring.

Thanksgiving Fun
We went to the holiday parade on Sat. Sophie liked it for about a half an hour but it got a little boring after we saw the same things over and over: kids singing, then horses, then cars (REPEAT). We didn't last for Santa at the end.

Big Girl Bed
On Saturday Phil turned Sophie's crib into a big girl bed. She was so excited all day pretending to go to sleep in it but then when it was really time to sleep, she cried herself to sleep. But last night she got under the covers, gave us a kiss, said, "Nigh night Mommy, nigh night Daddy." and that was it! She looks so cute in it but it makes me sad she's already old enough for a "big girl" bed. Next...potty training. Wish us luck!

Cow Boots
Phil's parents bought Sophie these pink cowboy boots when we went to San Antonio for Phil's boot camp graduation. She's worn them once or twice, but lately she's become very attached to them. She calls them her "cow boots" and wears them constantly. Last week to church and even to bed sometimes. I'm ok with it since they are really cute and we live in Idaho so why not? She can be a cowgirl if she wants!

Operation Domestic Tara
I'm determined to learn how to cook, sew, and become crafty. Luckily, I have lots of friends and family who are willing to help me. This week my mom and Becca helped me make really cute spiders out of shiny pipe cleaners and pom poms for the table decorating contest at our ward Halloween party. I am also proud to announce I made my first ever pie from scratch. My friend Therese helped me make the most delicious banana cream pie I've EVER tasted. She's also teaching me how to cook once a week and I trade by giving her son TJ piano lessons. And Phil's dad helped me make an apple pie. Next: making gravy from scratch and Christmas crafts. Any ideas?

2 Years of Joy, Sophie Joy
Sophie is 2! Now that we're rid of the binkie, things are pretty easy going now. As easy as can be with a high maintenance child that is. She loves drawing on the sidewalk with chalk, is obsessed with modes of transportation: cars, boats and airplanes, says phrases like "I want ___.", "no no mommy" and "no no daddy", and many other things, some of which are not decipherable by her parents. She enjoys "nooloos" (noodles), peanut butter and honey sandwiches and pretzels. Happy Feet has surpassed Curious George as her favorite show to watch. We're working on asking for help instead of screaming. Still working at peeing in her potty. And now for the best news of all: At her 2 year check up, we found out she is officially ON the growth chart for weight! Even if it is only the 1-3 percentile...good job Sophie!
