Vegas Getaway
Phil and I went to Vegas last week for 2 nights and it was...fun and scary and interesting. Fun because we had fun. Scary because I don't like flying on airplanes and because our hotel was in the ghetto. Interesting because of all the crazy crazy people there! We didn't really get much sleep, but it was nice just being Phil and Tara again. Sophie was a very good girl for her grandma and slept in the play pen, no problem. When we got there, we went to dinner at Planet Hollywood and then walked around the casinos (we may or may not have played a little 3 card poker), watched the fountain show at the Bellagio, walked around the strip, etc. The next morning, we went to breakfast, the M&M factory, and the Zappos outlet (where I bought some adorable stilettos). We had dinner reservations at an Italian restaurant in the Venetian. LOVED it. Real Italian food while we listened to opera singers live in the big room with the ceiling painted like the sky. You know I loved that. After dinner, we had tickets to Phantom of the Opera. AMAZING. 40 million dollar theatre built just for Phantom. Phil had never seen it so I told him we had to go! He loved it too. We went downtown to the Fremont Street experience after that and then caught the monorail back. The next morning we had to be at the airport by 5:30 in the AM. So yeah, short trip but I don't think we could have been away from Sophie any longer anyway!

Lullaby and Goodnight Sophie!
Sophie is sleeping! That's right...falling asleep on her own and finding one of the 4 pacifiers strewn around her crib if she happens to wake up during the night. She's been sleeping until 8:30 or 9 in the AM!!! I'm in heaven. After all the throwing up, changing sheets and PJs and baths, it was all so worth it! Here she is, sleeping away...

10 Months Old and 4th of July in Utah

We drove to Utah for the 4th last weekend. Trisha and her boyfriend Brian went with us and they really helped keep Sophie happy during the long car ride. We had a really nice time visiting Grandpa & Grandpa Goodsell and other family. Sophie was mesmerized by the fireworks, but wasn't afraid of them at all. She loved playing with my young cousins (her second cousins?) and she learned how to wave on Saturday (watch the video!).
At 10 months she is crawling all over the place and pulling up on everything. She loves books and baths and Cheerios but the real question is...is she finally sleeping through the night??? After 2 frustrating nights in Utah this weekend, we realized there was no other way to get Sophie to sleep than to let her cry. So last night, we covered her sheets with towels (for when she would throw up) and braced ourselves. She did throw up twice, but after that she only cried for a half an hour and slept through most of the night! Maybe it was because she was exhausted from the trip, but I have hope. I think the first time we let her cry when she was 6 months old, she was just too young. Now I think it may work! I put her down for her nap this morning and she didn't cry at all! I'm so excited!!!!!!! Maybe I'll get rid of the dark circles under my eyes after all...

Sophie Going Bananas for Bananas
Sophie likes bananas just like her mom. She likes them so much that when she was having trouble picking up the slimy pieces, she resorted to lapping them up.
This is the perfect opportunity to remind you of the banana song I always love to sing:
Go Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S
Go Bananas, B-A-N-A-N-A-S
Move to the left, Move to the right
Peel on down and MMMMM take a bite
MMMMM, MMMMM, take a bite!
